Aluminum Sheet and Foil Products

A.J. Oster offers aluminum sheet and foil gauges in a wide variety of alloys, tempers and finishes. These products can be supplied in both coils and cut lengths. We also supply brazing alloys and clad metals

Products are designed to capitalize on the metal’s many unique characteristics, including low density and light weight, high reflectivity, good conductivity, UV and solar light resistance, weather resistance, high elasticity and exceptional strength.

Alloys

1000 Series

Alloys 1100, 1145, 1200, 1230, 1235, 1350

Content
Pure aluminum (>99 – 99.5%)

Characteristics

  • Corrosion resistance
  • High thermal and electrical conductivity
  • Low mechanical properties
  • Good formability

Application Notes
Typical uses include transformers, switchgears, automotive heat shielding, food service, insulation and laminating

2000 Series

Alloy 2024

Content
Aluminum and copper, with other elements included per alloy

Characteristics

  • Good mechanical properties – can exceed those of carbon steel
  • Less corrosion resistant than other alloys
  • Limited weldability (exception 2219)
  • Select alloys offer excellent machinability

3000 Series

Alloy 3003, 3105

Content
Up to ~1.5% Mn content

Characteristics

  • Approximately 20% stronger than 1000 series

Application Notes
Used for HVAC duct work, radiators, heat exchangers, architectural siding and roofing

Brazing Sheet and Clad Alloys

3000 series core and 4000 series cladding alloys in coil and sheet form

Up to 12% Si content

Characteristics

  • Low melting range
  • Attractive appearance and aesthetic properties

Application Notes
Brazing sheet often referred to as clad product has one or more liner alloys that are bonded together and often used in heat exchangers.

5000 Series

Alloy 5052

Content
Aluminum and magnesium

Characteristics

  • Moderate to high mechanical strength
  • Good welding characteristics
  • Good corrosion resistance

Application Notes
Used in marine and other applications where corrosion resistance and strength is required

6000 Series

Alloy 6061

Content
Aluminum, magnesium and silicon

Characteristics

  • Medium mechanical strength
  • Good formability, weldability and machinability
  • Good corrosion resistance

Application Notes
Used for casings and packaging of various electronic components, computers, phones, etc.

7000 Series

Alloy 7072

Content
Aluminum and zinc, with copper, magnesium, chromium and zirconium added per alloy

Characteristics

  • Exceptionally high mechanical strength

8000 Series

Alloy 8011, 8111

Content
Aluminum combined with other elements, e.g. tin and lithium
